Search called off for freighter’s missing engineer in Lake Ontario

(TORONTO) — Authorities have called off their search for an engineer who was missing from a freighter in Lake Ontario, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The crewman didn’t show up for a scheduled watch aboard the grain carrier Canadian Provider. The vessel had traveled about 100 miles since he was last seen. The U.S. Coast Guard, Transport Canada and RCMP responders investigated.
