(ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia) — A gravel barge sank at a quarry site along the Fraser River, the Abbotsford Times newspaper reported. The partially submerged vessel, at Mainland Sand & Gravel Ltd., was discovered by a towing contractor upon his arrival after he was hired to transport the barge elsewhere. Officials said one of the hull compartments probably was holed and will need repair.
