Washington’s state ship winters at home due to Calif. emissions law

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) — Washington’s official state ship, the Lady Washington, is wintering in the Columbia River instead of Sacramento, Calif., this year, the Columbian newspaper reported. That’s because the sailing vessel’s diesel engine doesn’t meet the standards set in California’s new emissions law. Funds are being raised for a new engine.
