(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.; October 7, 2009) Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Mike Rampolla has been named general manager, contract services within the company’s Atlantic/Gulf business unit. In his new position, Rampolla will be responsible for sales and business development to expand the company’s worldwide transportation and logistics services for general cargo movements, offshore production components, including jackets and modules, ship tows and other projects requiring heavy lift or specialized marine transportation services. He will report to Jim Shettig, vice president, and will relocate from Valdez, Alaska to Houston.
“Mike has a vast array of experience in both sales and operations,” said Shettig. “We look forward to employing his knowledge of energy support and project services in our group to further expand our customer base and position us for future growth in our contract group.”
Rampolla joined Crowley in 1978 and has over 30 years experience in marine operations for Crowley throughout the world. In 2005, he was promoted to director of business development for emergency services and in 2007, was named general manager, Valdez operations. Rampolla is a former director for the Marine Response Alliance and has extensive project management experience. He earned his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
