Donjon Marine Co., Inc. engaged in dredging for return of ex-USS Intrepid to New York harbor


Hillside, NJ — Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., a provider of multi-faceted marine services including marine salvage, heavy lift, dredging and related emergency response services, was contracted by the U.S. Navy, Office of the Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), as requested by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide dredging and related support services for the return of the Ex-USS Intrepid to its permanent berth located at Pier 86, Manhattan, New York.  The WWII vintage U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier has been in services as a museum and educational center by the Intrepid Association in New York City.  Donjon was initially hired in November 2006 to provide operational and technical support in the refloating and removal of the Intrepid from Berth 86 to a local shipyard for repairs.  On October 2, 2008, after completion of Donjon’s work, The Ex-USS Intrepid was successfully returned to its berth for continued service to the U.S.
