Canadian commodore, fire hoses foil pirate attack in Gulf of Aden

(MONTREAL) — A Canadian commodore and his patrol ship thwarted a piracy attack in the Gulf of Aden, the Montreal Gazette newspaper reported. The commodore praised the Italian commercial ship’s crew, who used fire hoses and extra upper-deck lighting to help prevent the pirates from boarding. The commodore recommends that vessel hire security guards to stymie future attacks.
