(WASHINGTON, DC – October 26, 2007) The National Waterways Foundation elected new officers and trustees at its recent meeting on October 3, 2007 in Houston.
The goal of the National Waterways Foundation is to serve and protect America’s waterways system. Through research studies, education and training programs, grants, forms and similar activities, the Foundation helps people understand how to maintain our waterways system, enhance its capabilities, and promote its value in the years ahead.
Newly elected Foundation officers are Chairman Peter Stephaich, also chairman of Campbell Transportation, who will succeed Joe Pyne, president of Kirby Corporation. Terry Becker, president of Riverway Co., will act as the Foundation’s treasurer and R. Barry Palmer, WCI, President and CEO, was re-elected as Secretary.
Re-elected as Foundation trustees were Craig E. Philip, the president/CEO of Ingram Barge Company, H. Merritt Lane, III, the president/CEO of Canal Barge Company, as well as Howard H. Brent, Peter Stephaich and R. Barry Palmer.
Changes to Board of Trustees include the election of David Rider, Executive Director of the Seamen’s Church Institute (New York, NY), who succeeded the now-retired Dr. Jean Smith, and C. Jake Haulk, President of Allegheny Institute for Public Policy. Mr. Robert Guthans has left the Board.
