Exhibit explains ‘Perilous Passage’ of Columbia River bar (PHOTOS)

(ASTORIA, Ore.) — An exhibit at the Columbia River Maritime Museum explores the maritime dangers of crossing the Columbia River bar, the Daily News newspaper of Longview, Wash., reported. The exhibit is called “Crossing the Bar — Perilous Passage.” It features vessels ranging from cargo ships that get tossed to a pilot boat that can go airborne in one of the world’s roughest waterways.
