SeaRiver tanker not allowed to load oil at Valdez due to hull cracks

(VALDEZ, Alaska) — A SeaRiver Maritime tanker was barred from loading oil at Valdez because of cracks in its hull, the Anchorage Daily News newspaper reported. The S/R Baytown is a single-sided, double-bottomed vessel. Temporary repairs were done but the Coast Guard ordered the ship out of Valdez without loading oil until permanent repairs were finished.
