Port of Jacksonville visited by its largest ship ever (VIDEO)

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — The Port of Jacksonville has received a visit by its largest ship ever, the Florida Times-Union newspaper reported. The container ship MSC Catania, 983 feet long, called at the port this morning. It was able to fit into Jacksonville’s channel because the vessel was loaded only at 13 percent capacity. Port officials said the impressive ship highlights the possibilities for the region if a channel deepening project is undertaken.
