Pushboat transporting crane strikes, damages La. bridge (VIDEO)

 
Report: Captain didn't ask for bridge to be opened

(HARVEY, La.) -- A tugboat and barge tow carrying a construction crane struck and damaged a bridge over the Harvey Canal, the television station WWL reported. The pushboat captain never asked the Lapalco Bridge tender to open the bridge until after the vessels had struck its underside. The towboat was the General E Lee. The bridge is closed for repairs.
