VT Halter Marine orders Markey general purpose winch

(Seattle, Wash. – June 27, 2008) — The Markey Machinery Company, Inc. is pleased to receive an order to supply VT Halter Marine, Inc. with one general purpose winch. When delivered in 2009, Halter plans to install the DEPC-7 on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) coastal mapping vessel R/V Ferdinand R. Hassler, currently under construction. The Markey type DEPC-7 winch is custom designed by Markey engineers to meet NOAA’s statement of requirements. These requirements include independent certification of the winch’s design by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). NOAA’s R/V Ferdinand R. Hassler- a 124-foot small waterplane area twin-hulled (SWATH-type) craft, is named after a founder of one of NOAA’s forerunner agencies. Markey’s Seattle, Washington factory builds “HELL-FOR-STOUT” deck machinery which reliably performs demanding work, like hydrographic surveys, in the harsh marine environment.
