The following is the text of a press release issued by Harvey Gulf International Marine:

(NEW ORLEANS) — Harvey Gulf International Marine announced today that it has entered into a 3-year contract with Shell Oil to provide vessel support for Shell’s Alaska exploration and production program. Under the terms of the contract, Harvey Gulf will provide 2 Offshore Supply Vessels and shore-base support from Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Both vessels will support the Drill Ship FRONTIER DISCOVERER, which will be working for Shell in the Chukchi Sea.

Shane Guidry, Harvey Gulf’s Chairman and CEO, commented “Offshore work in the Alaskan seas comes with many challenges for both drilling and drilling support. We are fully prepared to meet those challenges and are pleased to have been chosen by Shell as the operator best suited to provide this vessel support and help Shell achieve success in this new frontier.

The supply vessels supporting Shell in Alaska will be double-hulled and capable of working at temperatures below -20°C. They are among Harvey Gulf’s new-generation OSV’s, which range in size from 240’ to 280’, and are all ABS classed, DP2 certified and characterized by high cargo capacities, state-of-the-art electronics and navigation systems, and specialized features. Each vessel will undergo modifications and enhancements to prepare for work in Alaskan waters this summer.
