(LEVIS, Quebec) — The Canadian Coast Guard on Friday took delivery of the first of three new icebreakers refitted at Quebec's Davie Shipyard, CTV News reported.
CCGS Captain Molly Kool was delivered during a ceremony at the shipyard across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City. The vessel, one of three former anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) ships bought from Norway in August, is the first new icebreaker floated by the Canadian Coast Guard in 25 years.
Federal officials also announced another $90 million in work for Davie.
