(ASTORIA, Ore.) — The Port of Astoria is seeking compensation from the operators of a log ship that struck a pier on Sept. 27, The Daily Astorian reported. According to a port spokesman, the bulk carrier Global Endeavor hit Pier 1 three times, damaging fender piles, the chalks used for tying up, the concrete overlay and an I-beam. There was minor damage to the vessel.
