Maintenance to disrupt NOAA's online Coast Survey service

The following is the text of a news release from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: (NOAA):

(WASHINGTON) — NOAA will undertake critical electrical maintenance in our office building this weekend, requiring an interruption of some Web services from 6 p.m. EST Friday, Dec. 19, through 6 a.m. EST Sunday, Dec. 21. Raster navigational charts (NOAA RNC) and electronic navigational charts (NOAA ENC) required for navigation will remain available, but some other navigation products will not be available during this time.

Services that will not be available during the planned disruption include the Historical Map & Chart Collection, BookletCharts, nowCOAST, ENC Direct to GIS, ENC Online, and the Coast Survey inquiry system. Other Web-based services may also experience an outage.

We will make every attempt to bring services online faster than planned, but chart and service users should plan to acquire their products or information prior to the service disruption. We will post updates on Twitter at @NOAAcharts. Check our tweets for more information throughout the weekend.

If you have questions before Friday evening, or if you experience problems after service comes back online, please contact us at our Nautical Inquiry and Comment System (click here).
