BC ferry strikes dock at 5 knots, forcing closure of terminal for months

(VICTORIA, British Columbia) — An electronics failure caused a BC Ferries vessel to crash into the Duke Point terminal dock, the Vancouver Sun and Victoria Times Colonist newspapers reported. The terminal will be closed for months due to the damage, which occurred when the Coastal Inspriration struck the dock at 5 knots. Twelve people had minor injuries and the ferry’s bow door hinge was destroyed.
