Bollinger delivers double hull OPA ’90 barges to Reinauer Transportation

OPA’90 compliant, Lakes, Bays & Sounds, ABS and USCG certified tank barge, RTC 26 is delivered from Bollinger to Reinauer Transportation for use in harbor service in ports on the Northeast U. S. Coast.

(LOCKPORT, LA – January 3, 2008) Bollinger Marine Fabricators (BMF) has delivered two double hull, oil tank barges built to meet the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA’90), to Reinauer Transportation Companies at Staten Island, N.Y.

Designated RTC 26 and RTC 27, the 28,000 BBL capacity barges measure 297’6” in length, with a 54’0” beam and a 13’0” depth.  The two barges each have the Beacon Finland Ltd. JAK 200 tug/barge coupler system, which is designed to increase operating efficiency and enhance safety and reliability by operating as a dual mode ITB.  The series of barges are non self-propelled, double hulled with a raked shaped bow, with six cargo tanks.  The barges are classed Lakes, Bays & Sound (Inland) Tank Barges, ABS +A1 Oil Tank Barge, and USCG certified. The barges are being constructed primarily for bunkering and harbor service in ports on the U.S. East Coast.

Following the delivery of RTC 26 and RTC 27, Bollinger announced the signing of a sister ship, Bollinger hull number 543, scheduled for delivery in the 4th quarter of 2008.

Bollinger has 13 shipyards located between New Orleans and Houston with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River and Intracoastal Waterway. Bollinger is the largest vessel repair company in the Gulf of Mexico region with a total of 40 dry-docks in Louisiana and Texas.
