National Marine Electronic Association to demonstrate at ConnectFest

The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) is scheduled to demonstrate their newly developed NMEA 2000 Network at a special event called ConnectFest, scheduled to be held at the IBEX trade show in Miami Beach on October 11, and at the METS trade fair in Amsterdam on November 15.

The NMEA 2000 Network is an international networking marine electronics standard for communication on vessels. The Network allows mariners to share engine and GPS data, as well as other electronic information, on multiple displays from different manufacturers simultaneously. Another special feature is “plug and play,” or the possibility of plugging and unplugging products without disruption to the network. NMEA cites reliability, profitability, simple installation, employee productivity, and customer satisfaction as benefits of the Network to boat-builders and the trade.

Each ConnectFest will begin with a 15-minute presentation on the background of NMEA 2000, followed by ongoing live demonstrations of a NMEA 2000 working network with marine electronics and engines. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with manufacturers and representatives from the NMEA.

“ConnectFest will be bigger than ever this year,” said Steve Spitzer, NMEA’s Technical Director.
