High winds break towline on Seattle fuel barge

(SEATTLE) — A barge carrying 284,000 gallons of bunker fuel broke free from its tugboat near downtown Seattle, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper reported. Coast Guard officials said high winds caused the towline to snap. The barge grounded on rocks near the Elliot Bay Marina breakwall. The Coast Guard said no fuel spilled.
