(NEW YORK) — One oil executive says an operator on Deepwater Horizon’s drilling equipment may not have been paying attention to gauges when the rig exploded, Fox News reported. One possible scenario is that the rig crew was hanging off the casing on a new well and there may have been a backside blowout while a ring was in place on a blowout preventer. Gauges should have indicated to the crew that trouble was brewing but they failed to prevent the blowout, according to the executive.
