(COPENHAGEN) — AP Moeller-Maersk said it is strengthening its policies against pirate attacks, Reuters reported. The Danish shipping group, whose U.S. unit Maerk Line owns the Maersk Alabama, said it will widen the area off Somalia where precautions must be taken and will take steps to make it more difficult for pirates to board its commercial ships. Maersk said it does not plan to arm crews with weapons or to station armed guards on its vessels, and the company calls for the international community to establish a “transit corridor” in the region.
