(WASHINGTON) — The Burlington Free Press newspaper of Vermont published Maersk Alabama captain Richard Phillips’ full statement to the U.S. Senate. Phillips said arming crews is “not the best or ultimate solution” to fighting piracy. He said the U.S. government should protect U.S.-flagged vessels.
